how can a fax machine be used as a tattoo stencil copier?
Many fax machines have a buffer memory. Some have enough memory to store hundreds of document images. I have a scanner/fax/printer. The buffer can hold more than 100 document images. I can load images from image files on my computer. So, what I have is a smart printer with a fax built-in. You scan a document as if you were going to send it, and then instead of sending it, you simply print it. Back a number of years ago, when photocopiers cost an arm and a leg, a fax machine was called the poor man's Xerox, simply by sending a fax to a machine next door. Since it took a phone line, you could not send a fax to yourself, so you simply used another machine as the receiver. Simple, effective considering the technology of the day. Before the days of buffer memory, people figured out early on, that by simply using a fax, you could make rough copies of documents. Not exactly high resolution, and making a copy of a copy was almost impossible, but workable as far back as WWII when the fax machine was invented. Bear in mind, this is a plain paper COPY, NOT an actual stencil like your original.
