"Angry Birds Space" launched today on a variety of platforms, and Rovio is
betting big on the sequel's success to cement the company's staying power.
Available on iOS, Android, Mac and PC, Angry Birds Space is the first full-
fledged sequel to the original Angry Birds, which remains the most popular
gaming app.
Rovio offered expansion packs like "Angry Birds Rio" with additional levels,
but since this is the first official follow-up, Angry Birds Space has a lot
riding on the momentum of its evil pigs. The Finnish company is heavily
promoting the game, and the Angry Birds' established fan base could spur
initial downloads but sustained interest will rest more on the game's merits.
Rovio capitalized on Angry Birds' runaway success by expanding the brand,
