how to default the top margin in microsoft word..?
all of a sudden every time i open microsoft word 2003 the blinking cursor starts all the way at the top of the page. the right and left margins are there, so its indented whatever the default inch or so is... but i have to open the "insert a header" button, hit the X and not write anything in the header, to make the cursor move down from the top of the page like it normally is (about an inch or whatever down). all i know is i moved the top margin to the top of the page manually once by clicking and dragging so i could fit a lot of typing on one page once, and now everything i open a new document, the cursor starts at the complete top of the page in stead of one inch down, and i have to do the insert a header thing (and not really insert a header). when i got to file>page set up, it says there is a top 1 inch margin, even tho the cursor is still at the top, and there is no gray margin on the left side of the ruler tool bar. how do i set this top margin back to default?
If you're already in Page Layout view, I suspect you've accidentally turned off the inter-page display, which also turns off the headers and footers and the top and bottom margins. Here's how to fix it:
1.Find the solid black line between the pages.
2.Click it with the cursor.
An alternative way to do this is:
1.Click the Tools->Options menu item.
2.Click the View tab.
3.Under Print and Web Layout Options, put a check in the check box for White Space Between Pages,
4.Click OK.
That should bring things back the way you want them.
