I was never especially keen on rugby as a child growing up during the 1970s in
Port Talbot. It was a golden period for the Welsh team and I went to my share
of matches but that was where it stopped. On the playing field at school I
stayed as far away from the ball as possible, terrified of the studs on the
boots of the other players who seemed and undoubtedly were bigger than me.
It's only in the last 10 years that I've developed an interest in and perhaps
even a love of the game. An ideal Saturday afternoon is now spent on the sofa
